Frequently Asked Questions

Questions:

back to top1. Why polyethylene plastic tanks versus galvanized steel tanks?

  • Polyethylene is non-corrosive for longer life
  • Lightweight and easy to handle - no heavy equipment needed
  • Maintenance free - easier to repair
  • Green color blends with the environment
  • No special pad or gravel rings required
  • Fittings can be added anywhere on tank
  • Many more sizes available than in galvanized
  • More economical
  • Meaningful warranties - galvanized warranties don't cover corrosion

back to top2. What sizes are available and what are their prices?

  • This depends on where you are located. Call us so we can determine which outlet offers you the size you need for the best price. Most sizes are listed on the website.

back to top3. What size do I need?

  • We have a great amount of experience on what size tank will fit your needs, as well as what counties and states may require to meet their standards. If we don't have the information, we can give you suggestions on whom to contact.

back to top4. Do you deliver?

  • Yes. Rates available on request. You may also pick up tank at the factories.

back to top5. Does the sunlight have a negative effect on the plastic?

  • No. The tanks are made from UV-inhibited plastic to fight the sun's harmful effects. Tanks are also opaque to retard algae growth.

back to top6. What kind of pad do I need?

  • Native soil free of sharp rocks is more than adequate. Sand and concrete pads are also common. No special rock base with gravel ring is needed.

back to top7. What kind of fittings comes with the tank?

  • A 1.5" top inlet and 2" bottom outlet are standard. Additional fittings can be added at a reasonable price.

back to top8. Do the tanks freeze?

  • No. They are used in extremely cold conditions across the nation. However, we recommend using flexible hose type plumbing because the tanks tend to expand and contract in extreme weather conditions. Also, when the temperature is below freezing, leave enough room in the top of the tank to allow for the water to expand when it freezes.

back to top9. What is the warranty?

  • Anywhere between three and five years, depending on tank manufacturer.

back to top10. How long does it take to get the tanks after they are ordered?

  • If tanks are in stock, approximately 2-5 days. If tanks are not in stock and have to be ordered from the factory, approximately 2-3 weeks.

back to top11. How do I pay for the tanks?

  • Before product is shipped or picked up at the factory, payment needs to be received. We take credit cards (Visa, Master Card, Discover) over the phone or check/money order through the mail. If product is picked up from one of our retail locations, you can pay at time of purchase.

back to top12. Why polyethylene or fiberglass septic tanks versus concrete?

  • Poly and fiberglass septic tanks are unaffected by acids in the soil and internal gases created by sewage, so they won't deteriorate like concrete.
  • Easier to install - No heavy equipment is needed to transport or install the tank.

back to top13. Are the tanks repairable?

  • Yes. Plastic welding rod can be provided in case of accidental damage or vandalism. It is simply melted into the damaged area with a heat gun. Sometimes, a polypropylene fitting with a plug can be installed at the point of damage to seal any leaks.
